Youths suspected of injuring Evesham wildlife identified say police

Lise Evans 5th Aug, 2025   0

POLICE in Evesham have moved to reassure the public after receiving several reports of youths using catapults to target animals in and round the town centre.

Taking to social media on Friday (August 1) they said they had identified those suspected to be involved in killing and injuring waterfowl and they would be dealt with appropriately for their actions.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware of several reports involving a group of youths using catapults and slingshots to harm animals in and around Evesham town centre.

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our community.

“We want to reassure residents that we have identified those suspected to be involved and they will be dealt with appropriately for their actions.”

The spokesperson reiterated that animal cruelty is a serious offence, and added: “We are committed to taking robust action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members of our community — including our wildlife.”

The development comes after the Observer ran a front page story on July 25 about residents of Monks Walk who had contacted us about their concerns about on-going anti-social  behaviour along the riverside.

Issues along with overt drug dealing included ducks, swans and pigeons being shot and injured.

At the time police said they wished to speak to a youth seen wearing a neon pink t-shirt in the area.

They have again appealed for anyone who witnesses or suspects animal cruelty involving catapults or slingshots, please report it immediately.
