TINYTALK baby signing is celebrating five years success in Droitwich, Evesham and Worcester.
Mollie Prior – who leads the signing and toddler talking classes – said she was delighted to have reached the milestone.
The sessions help babies and toddlers communicate through simple sign language, increasing understanding between parents and their children.
Mollie said: “I am so proud to have achieved five fantastic years teaching sign language with TinyTalk, it really is a dream job.
“There is nothing better than enabling communication between parents and their children of any age, from newborns signing for their milk to toddlers and preschoolers expressing their emotions and learning about shapes and colours.”
She works with more than 100 Worcestershire families every term so after five years she has seen a lot of youngsters start their signing journeys and the benefit it brings.
“Signing babies are happy babies with less crying and frustration which equals happier parents.
“It’s never too early or too late to start signing.
“For me, teaching sign language and being a TinyTalk teacher is the best job in the world.”
Mollie started delivering TinyTalk classes in February 2017 and one of her families has been attending with three of her children ever since and with her eldest in Manchester before her move to Evesham.
Local mum Emma Dodsworth said: “I’ve attended TinyTalk with all four of my children and with Mollie for the last five years, that’s seven years of TinyTalk fun.
“We even watched online classes through the lockdowns, it really kept us going.
“They have all absolutely loved it and I’ve just started with my new son Thomas in January 2022 who was just two weeks old. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.”
During the class babies and parents are taught signs from British Sign Language to help their little ones communicate before they can speak, ‘giving them a voice’- allowing them to express their thoughts and needs.
This results in far fewer frustrations and tantrums, and very happy, understood babies.
There are toddler talking classes too where there is signing but greater emphasis on talking and other valuable skills, including turn-taking, teamwork, sharing and social skills.
Classes are held across Worcestershire in Evesham, Droitwich and Worcester featuring weekly one-hour sessions, full of songs, games, books and sensory activities followed by playtime and refreshments.
