RESIDENTS in Evesham who have lost love ones can get help, support and friendship at the new monthly bereavement cafe.

The cafe takes place at Wallace House, Oat Street, between 10am and 12pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month, starting this Tuesday, July 23.

The two hour sessions are open to anyone who feels the need to be in a safe place and to be with others in a similar bereaved situation.

The project is being run by the St Vincent de Paul Society based at Evesham Catholic Church and is open to people of all faiths and those who have none.

The cafe offers tea, coffee and biscuits are all free of charge.

Setting up the project has received great help from Lindsay Roach, who is Evesham’s Community Builder, as well as invaluable Support from Worcestershire County Council, Evesham Rotary Club and Waitrose Evesham.

The organisers said: “Losing a loved one through bereavement can come as a big shock – even if it was expected.

“Apart from all the organisation and admin, many people just feel a big black hole they do not know how to fill.

“For many just a sympathetic ear and the opportunity to off-load with others in a similar situation, or with sympathetic volunteers can be a life changer.”
