Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 17th Jun, 2018   0

TODAY is Father’s Day when millions of cards and presents will be given by children to their dads.

I wonder, for how many of those fathers it will be the only time in the year that they hear the words “I love you and thank you for being my dad”.

All over the world, this weekend, there will be millions of children who will not have a father, either through death or separation.

Sadly we live in a world where war, famine and family breakup mean that so many children will have no father to send a card or present to.

In the gospels, Jesus Christ constantly reminded his listeners that God was his Father and that he can be our Father too.

He left us with the prayer that people all over the world use every day and week to help them to realise how great God is.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.”

Let us appreciate all that this prayer can mean in our daily lives
