Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 30th Jul, 2023   0

AS A TEN-year-old schoolboy my teacher taught us a word which he said that at the time was the longest word in the English Dictionary. That word was ‘Antidisestablishmentarianism’.

In the past seventy plus years I have never used that word in any conversation, in fact I can’t really remember now what it actually means.

I have often wondered why he gave us such useless information at our young age, knowing full well that we would probably never ever use it in our daily lives.

No doubt that we can all look back over our lives and realise that we have been given some information that we have never used because it was literally useless.

When Jesus Christ was here on earth the religious leaders had added so many useless rules to the Ten Commandments that the people were totally confused and perplexed.

God had given the Ten Commandments to teach the people how to live properly and usefully to the benefit of all mankind but these laws had been made a mockery of and Jesus came to put things right.

He came from His Father, God, to bring a new message of salvation for all who will trust and believe in Him as Saviour and Lord.

Jesus died on that cross to bring a new way of living for each one of us as we follow Him.
