Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 3rd Oct, 2021   0

OVER the years I have been privileged to know many people who have, throughout their lives, used their talents and time to help their fellow human beings.

Some of them have been rewarded for their efforts with awards such as an MBE, whilst others have soldiered on with no reward other than that of helping and being thanked by the recipients of their labours.

There are, of course, many who are all take and no give, just in it for what they can get out of it for themselves.

It is so easy to sit back and let others do all the hard work, but we really need to appreciate all that other people do for us in our everyday lives.

Are we thankful for those in our NHS; those who keep our electricity and gas flowing; those who deliver our post or collect our rubbish?

I know they are being paid for the jobs which they doing, but how often do we say thank you to them?

When we read about the Lord Jesus Christ, we see that He was born into obscurity, went to live in the town of Nazereth (which had a bad reputation); worked as a carpenter until He was thirty years old before He could start His earthly ministry.

He led an entirely selfless life, healing the sick, championing the poor and lonely but eventually this caused Jesus to be falsely accused which led to His death on the cross to bring us life.
