EVESHAM Labour chiefs have chosen Richard Hales as their candidate for the Broadway division in May’s County Council.
The division covers several villages, including Wickhamford, Childswickham, Sedgeberrow, Fladbury and Cropthorne, as well as Broadway itself.
Richard has lived in Badsey for the past 14 years. He ran his own business for 12 years before returning to employment in printing and photography. He has two school age children and a keen commitment to fairness in educational provision.
“I would be proud to represent local people and help to make a difference to their lives. I am a keen advocate of proportional representation which would ensure every vote counts and could increase residents’ connection with their community, and so help us build a fairer society,” he said.
David Haslam, chair of Evesham Labour Party, welcomed Richard’s selection and said: “Labour representation at all levels of government is crucial and it makes a real difference, even when in opposition.
“Labour is also vigorously opposing rises in Council Tax, itself an unfair tax, to make up for years of Conservative Government cuts.”
