Parents reminded of school place deadline

THE deadline to apply for a place at primary, first, infant, junior and middle schools in Worcestershire is January 15, 2019.

Parents of all children starting school this coming September need to apply for their school place before applications close at midnight on January 15 this month.

For children born between September 1, 2014 and August 31, 2015, parents must apply for a school place starting in September 2019 before the deadline or they may not receive an offer for one of their preferred schools.

To avoid disappointment and potential inconvenience, parents should visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

The site is secure and parents and carers can log on to the website at any time during the day or night.

This means last minute changes are possible up to 12 midnight on the closing day.

Parents will also receive a reference number which they can refer to in any future correspondence with the County Council.

The county’s Cabinet member responsible, Councillor Marcus Hart said: “Starting school is a big step for children and we aim to make this process as smooth as possible.

“We are pleased that with admission for September 2018 every child that applied had a place offered to them, with 93 per cent getting their first choice preference.

“However it is especially important the deadlines are met to avoid missing out on a place.”

Those without access to the internet can get online at any county library or call School Admissions on 01905 822700.
