New plans to enhance health and wellbeing across Wychavon

Evesham Editorial 28th Feb, 2024   0

Wychavon District Council has unveiled an ambitious new plan aimed at enhancing residents’ health and wellbeing by revitalising town centres, and fortifying the natural environment across the district.

We Are Wychavon Plan comprises 29 pledges delivered over the next four years, grounded in the council’s core priorities of People, Place, and Environment.

Drawing on insights from residents, young people, councillors, and local needs assessments, the plan aims for a collaborative effort to address key issues affecting communities within the district.

Among the promises outlined in the plan are schemes to bolster existing health and wellbeing hubs, extend support to vulnerable households, and expand opportunities for young people through the extension of social mobility grants.

The council aims to establish a new housing facility in the northern region of the district to assist homeless youth in transitioning to independent living arrangements.

The plan also emphasises the refurbishment of town centre sites such as the Riverside Centre in Evesham and Droitwich Spa Lido, along with programmes to mitigate traffic congestion in

Evesham and promote sustainable transportation options.

Coun Chris Day, leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “This is an ambitious plan which sets out our priorities for the next four years based on what our residents have told us matters to them.

“We’re excited about the opportunities the plan contains and are looking forward to getting started on delivering these promises for our residents to make Wychavon an even better place to live, work and visit.”

The council has announced an increase of £5 per year in Wychavon’s share of the Council Tax bill, marking the first adjustment in six years.
