Fun for all the family at this year's Asparafest

A HOST of fun for all the family is on the menu for the annual Asparafest food and music festival at Ashdown Farm in Evesham.

The countdown is on to this year’s festival which will be held on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4 as part of a host of events to celebrate the asparagus season.

Recently voted ‘Best Festival in Worcestershire’ in the What’s On Readers’ Awards 2017, this year’s Asparafest is celebrating Vale of Evesham asparagus being granted Protected Geographical Indicator status.

The festival takes place from 10am to 11pm on the Saturday and from 10am to 5pm on the Sunday and offers camping or weekend tickets.




For visitors across all ages, Asparafest 2017 has plenty on its menu.

Asparamancer and Gus the Asparagus Man will be in residence as usual, following Gus’ recent trip to Brussels to deliver Vale of Evesham asparagus to MEP’s at the European Parliament.


The infamous Asparagus Eating Competition returns for visitors chance to be crowned the 2017 King or Queen of asparagus!

A colourful mix of of music will be on offer on the two stages with rhythm and blues masters Dr Feelgood, festival favourites 3 Daft Monkeys, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican and The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band plus local heroes The Peas, Tazmin Barnes and more.

Youngsters will be treated to visits from cBeebies Mr Bloom on the Saturday and Katy Ashworth on Sunday alongside storytelling, falconry, the Asparalympics and children’s crafts.

In addition, stalls selling local food delicacies and gifts, street food, vintage vehicles, a fun fair, a real ale and cider tent and of course loads of asparagus enjoy guarantee a weekend well spent.

Festival organiser Tash Daly said: “Vale of Evesham asparagus has been making the news recently with lots of news and great stories.

“Clearly our enthusiasm for asparagus is spreading, so we are excited about Asparafest being bigger and better than ever before this year!”

Early Bird tickets for Asparafest are on sale now from £12.50 and under 10’s go free.
