SOUTH Worcestershire Lifeguard Club members have qualified for the National Lifesaving Championship Finals.

Six South Worcestershire teams took part in the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) West Midlands National Lifesaving Championships Regional Heats at Droitwich Leisure Centre.

The competition consisted of four elements to test the skill of the competitors in a team scenario covering the pool and first aid – life support initiative test, aquatic initiative test, swim/tow and rope throw.

In the 12 to 14-year-old boys’ section Cameron Leach and Luke Betteridge were crowned champions while Jacob Hesketh and Jacob Goodall secured silver medals.

Lara Harding and Ellen Forson won the 12 to 14-year-old girls’ category and in the girls’ 15 to 17-year-old category Alice Forson and Lucy Inett were crowned champions after a closely fought battle with Amy Weston and Helena Leach who took silver.

The boys’ 15 to 17-year-old team of Alex Jackson and Luke Smith were narrowly beaten to a silver medal.

The winners will now represent the RLSS West Midlands branch at the National Lifesaving Championship Finals in Leeds in November.
