SOUTH Worcestershire Lifeguard Club member Alex Jackson is heading down under to Adelaide to take part in the World Lifesaving Championships.
After a successful year including becoming the National Lifesaving champion in the 100m manikin tow, Jackson was chosen as a member of the Great Britain Youth team and the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) performance squad.
He continued his success with two gold medals and a bronze at the RLSS Yorkshire Speeds competition in September, as well as a gold and bronze medal at the recent RLSS National Simulated Emergency Response Competition alongside team-mate Tom Clifford.
Evesham Leisure Centre lifeguard Jackson has put his success down to his new carbon fins which are specially moulded to fit his feet.
Jackson leaves for Australia this week, with the Youth Lifesaving events taking place from November 26.
