MUCH-FANCIED Evesham WMC earned their first Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One win of the season with a 2-1 victory at New Inn Pershore.
Rushton scored for the home side before Scrivens and Dixon struck to give the Workies a much-needed win.
Champions Bretforton Old Boys went goal crazy against visitors Tewkesbury Town, enjoying a 17-1 thumping. Sam Beddoes (4), Will Gayton (4), Sean Brain (3), Clarke (2), Cooke (2), Lambert and Beach grabbed the goals, rendering Tarling’s effort a consolation for Town.
Barnes and Sexton were on target for Mickleton Rangers in their 2-1 home win over Inkberrow, for whom Lewis Sheen scored, whilst Stour Excelsior edged out hosts Offenham Rovers 3-2 with the help of a Harris double and an own goal. Rovers scored through Simeonov and Burrows.
In Division Two, Sun Inn gained a welcome 2-1 win at local rivals Alderton and in Division Three a Cartwright treble and Coin goal led Stour Excelsior Reserves to a 4-1 victory at Stratford HGC.
Eleven Evesham Sunday League teams progressed into the WFA Sunday Minor Cup second round, including last season’s finalists TDMS Harvington who comfortably defeated visitors Malvern Radar Youth 8-1 as Woodfield scored four goals.
Graham Begley bagged five goals for Ashton 88 in their 7-2 win at New Inn Sports, whilst a James Heritage treble helped in-form Broadway United Reserves defeat visitors Badsey Recreation 5-2.
Pebworth progressed with a comfortable 8-2 home win over Eaton Reserves in which Keen scored a hat-trick and Fortis hit five without reply at VKL United.
Bredon accounted for visitors Fairfield Titans 8-2 and four second half goals helped Bretforton Old Boys Reserves see off hosts Bromsgrove Raiders 7-2.
Charlton Fladbury defeated visitors Stoke Prior 7-0 and Cropthorne eased to a 6-1 success at Hayley.
Dragons beat visitors Crown Athletic 5-1 and TDMS Evesham defeated visitors Brewers Saints 4-0, but Bengeworth lost 5-0 at Spennells United and Ambi Allsports were beaten 6-1 at Broughsons.
