Workies make winning start

EVESHAM WMC opened their Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One campaign with an excellent 4-2 win at Broadway United.

The Workies will be hoping to mount a serious challenge this season and doubles from Sam Ford and Elliott Grady gave them a good start. Brandon Parker and Jack Steele scored for Broadway.

Top flight new-boys Bretforton Sports Club defeated visitors Offenham Rovers 3-1 with goals from Ben Johns (2) and Mike Jennings. Radu Nicolaita scored for Rovers.

Champions Bretforton Old Boys opened up with a 2-0 win at Mickleton Rangers and Josh Keen and Ryan Davies were on target for Tewkesbury Town who defeated visitors Inkberrow, for whom Alex Bullock scored, 2-1.




New Inn Pershore drew 1-1 at home to Stour Excelsior as Jake Brant scored for New Inn and James Drinkwater netted for Stour.

In Division Two, pre-season favourites TDMS Harvington opened with a 6-0 win at Badsey Recreation through goals from Luke Woodfield (3), Jack Philpott, Harry Quirke and Jack Hollins.


Cropthorne recorded an excellent 3-0 victory at Alderton thanks to goals from Tom Barton, Oliver Clayton and Aron Letterese, whilst Pebworth overcame new boys AFC Cheltenham 2-1 with a goal from Lewis O’Loughlin and an own goal. The visitors scored through Ryan Caddock.

Fladbury got off to a good start by winning 6-2 at Fortis. Zinzan Hancox and Leon Napper scored for the home team.

Dragons started their Division Three season with a 4-1 victory at relegated Bredon as Alex Lane scored a hat-trick and Tom Donnison also netted. Bredon bagged a consolation through James Phelps.

Stratford HGC hit five without reply against newcomers and visitors Vale United as the goals came from Kyle Nichol (3), George Spilsbury and David Veitch.

Ambi Allsports recorded a comfortable 6-1 win at Alcester Town and Stour Excelsior Reserves defeated visitors Bengeworth 4-1 with goals from Alex Gregg (2), Sam Johnson and Elliot Wright.

Two of the fancied teams met and Ashton 88 came out on top 4-2 at Strawberry Field United. The home side scored through Daryl Ballard and Matt Magee but Ashton prevailed as Graham Begley, Lewis Carter, Will Stevens and Tom Wall all struck.
