MARTIN WILLIAMS was crowned Evesham Golf Club seniors Winter League winner after an impressive set of performances.
All ten rounds were played on the red course and golfers enjoyed some fine winter weather throughout.
The format was a Stableford competition with the best five scores to count and the lead was hotly contested from the outset as some magnificent scores were recorded.
Williams prevailed with a best five score of 197. Runner-up was Geoff Wellens with 195 and third was Mick Hocking with 192.
MEANWHILE, Evesham GC seniors have held their first qualifier of the new season – a Stableford competition for the Eric Tyler Trophy.
On a distinctly unpleasant rainy morning which provided difficult conditions, the winner with 33 points was Bill Dobie.
In second place with 31 points was Ian Facer and third on countback was last year’s winner Neil Croft.
