Whitehouse Cups glory for captains

A DOZEN mixed pairs competed for the Whitehouse Cups in fabulous weather on Sunday at Evesham Golf Club, where the course was in great condition for the time of year.

Despite the challenging format of Medal Foursomes, some good scores were achieved, none better than the pairing of the men’s and ladies’ captains Brian Osborne and Eunice Allen who won the competition with a nett score of 70.5.

Runners-up were Ken Hunt and Jenny Marston with 74.5.

The occasion also saw the presentation of the prestigious Frank Vincent Trophies – Evesham Golf Club’s main mixed knockout competition which was played during the summer – to winners Annie and Martin Bird.

EVESHAM GC seniors finished their campaign with a 3-3 draw against visitors Broadway at Craycombe Links.

The day was dry but blustery and the course was in good condition for the time of year.

Broadway fielded a strong team and the Evesham squad had to be at their best to secure a share of the spoils.

Evesham results: Ian Wood and Robin Flack won; Neil Croft and Mick Hocking won; John Vaughan and Les Bond won; Doug Sharp and Phil Williams lost; Tony Clemow and Malcolm Carnall lost; Richard Saville and Mike Whiteford lost.
