Evesham 11 Southam 18
Midlands Two West (South)
INCONSISTENT handling cost Evesham as they had to settle for a losing bonus point against their Warwickshire visitors on Saturday.
The Vale side were hoping to bounce back from successive narrow defeats but, after a strong opening, they struggled to keep hold of the ball as the weather deteriorated and picked up just a point for the third time in a row.
Evesham skipper Nathan Chambers, named the hosts’ man of the match, said: “Ultimately, Southam played the elements better on the day and fully deserved their victory.
“We were consoled by picking up a late bonus point, but it is another week of disappointment which leaves the boys hurting ahead of Saturday’s home clash with third placed Kenilworth.”
The hosts’ points came from a James Roberts try and six from the tee from Mike Harris.
Evesham are now sixth with 20 points, a place below Southam on points difference.
