Weather intervenes as Maggie launches ladies' reign

Evesham Editorial 15th Jan, 2018   0

BROADWAY Golf Club’s ladies’ section came out in force to support their new lady captain Maggie McDivitt as she hosted her drive-in.

Having already successfully completed her first tee shot of 2018 with the other club captains, McDivitt was well prepared and kicked off the day with a splendid tee shot which flew down the middle of the fairway.

Supporting ladies were given the opportunity to guess the distance and this was successfully calculated by Jude Vidler who had estimated the impressive 129 yards.

Sadly, as soon as the superb drive was dispatched, thick fog decided to make a very unwelcome appearance and the Stableford competition organised for the many ladies present was suspended.

There was no alternative but to seek refuge in the warmth and comfort of the clubhouse where McDivitt was delighted to announce that, through the kind donations of lady members, her charity fund for her year had been launched with an excellent £70 raised on the day.

McDivitt has chosen Cobalt as her charity because of the wonderful work it carries out in the early detection and diagnosis of cancers and dementia across Worcestershire and Gloucestershire through use of state of the art scanners.
