PERSHORE Town were made to pay for their profligacy as visitors Pelsall Villa leapfrogged them into 16th place on Saturday.

Despite creating the best opportunities, Town could not finish off their chances.

The trend began in the third minute when Luke Church was well positioned with only the keeper to beat but could not convert.

Reece Jacobs and Steve Roche then both had opportunities but the visitors’ keeper made some decent saves.

The second half was much the same as the first with Roche forcing Pelsall’s keeper into a good save just after half time before he headed just over a minute later.

Pelsall’s goal came from an inswinging corner after 63 minutes when Luke Farley headed the ball into the net from close range.

Jacobs nearly equalised but dragged an effort wide of the far post late on before Steve Webb shot just wide in the final minute.

This was a spirited performance from a much-changed Town team who deserved more from the match.

Town, who are four points above the drop zone, entertain Bolehall Swifts at the King George V Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
