PERSHORE were left to rue their missed chances as they ended the season with defeat on Saturday.

While Town were already assured of a mid-table finish, the match was vital for hosts Heather who needed a point to ensure their safety, but they secured maximum points as a swift counter-attack was finished by Ahkeem Rose.

Town started the game well as Gareth Evans went close with a header and Kallum Powell hit the post with a shot having beaten the full back. Evans was then denied by a good save from keeper Ben Allsop.

Town, who finished 14th, had dominated proceedings but in the 24th minute Heather scored with a counter-attack when speedy striker Rose got in behind the visiting defence to prod the ball past advancing Town keeper Andy Yarnold.

The goal changed the game as Heather then gained the upper hand for the remainder of the first half and Troy Wallen hit the bar with a long range shot.

The second half was evenly contested and Evans was unlucky not to score from close range and Jake Donnelly hit the woodwork late on for Town with a left-footed shot from 15 yards.
