COMPETITION was intense when Broadway Golf Club ladies competed in their popular 3-Ball Waltz team contest.
The morning began on a cool note and there was a stiff breeze to contend with but conditions were still pleasant for the Waltz format, which allows for one score to count on the first hole, two on the second and three on the third, etc.
With this repeated over 16 holes, teams of three went out to make the most of their scoring opportunities.
The winning trio were Frances Friend, Fran Andrews and Barb Buggin with an impressive 63 points. Second were Chris Saunders, Judith Noyce and Angela Sollis with 61, ahead of third placed Valerie Steven, Sonia Ward and Sheila Lawson with 59.
Ladies’ captain Maggie McDivitt, ladies’ vice-captain Irene Hawkes and Jude Vidler were fourth, also with 59, but behind on countback.
