Victorious Plums climb to fourth

PERSHORE claimed an 88-run victory over visitors Fordhouses to move into fourth place in Birmingham League Division Two.

The hosts won the toss and chose to bat but, having slumped to 41-4, runs were never going to be easy to come by.

However, Liam Ridings dug in to make 60 from 119 balls and, thanks to support from fellow middle order batsmen Taylor Pugh (26) and Chris Miles (43no), the Plums were able to post a respectable 184-6 off their 50 overs.

Fordhouses’ reply mirrored the Pershore innings to some extent as half their side were back in the pavilion with just 59 on the board, but this time there was no batting recovery.

Only wicketkeeper Jem Stack (22no) reached a score of 20 or better as Luke Dalley (1-13), Darren Critcher (3-33), Pugh (3-35) and Matthew Brace (3-15) all starred with the ball in dismissing the Wolverhampton side for 96 in the 34th over.

Pershore, who collected 24 points, visit Staffordshire outfit C&R Hawks on Saturday.
