EVESHAM Youth Angling Club’s newly-formed team made a highly successful debut in the Junior National Angling Championships on Saturday at Tunnel Barn Farm in Shrewley near Warwick.
The six-man squad of captain Callum Jennings, Dan Chalk, Harry Golder, Harry Lewis, Joe Cook and Mike Cross came a creditable second against eight other teams with 38 points, five points behind winners Sensas A4.
The Vale anglers also had the distinction of having Jennings finishing second overall in the match with a captain’s performance, weighing in 31kg.
Evesham Youth have attended the prestigious annual event in previous years with a best team finish of fourth place, but the weekend’s competition was a new experience for this latest generation of anglers.
