WITH the short oval JASCAR season over, Evesham’s Olly Turner is already turning his attentions to the 2017 racing calendar.
Turner earned his Motor Sports Association ARDS licence in April and more recently was a finalist in the highly acclaimed Ginetta Junior Scholarship.
Now, in a further boost, the Turner family is pleased to announce Olly will be racing in the British Racing and Sports Car Club Fiesta Junior Championship in 2017.
Turner was welcomed at the International Wing at Silverstone by JamSport Racing and the co-ordinator of the formula, Julianne Bates, to celebrate the move officially.
The 14-year-old has worked hard all year, not just racing in his current stock car but also developing his driving skills outside ovals in numerous circuit formulas including Ginetta G40 juniors, Renault Clio and the Ford Fiesta ST, determined to make the transition in 2017.
Coming from a short oval background gives Turner an advantage moving forward. Most of his fellow racers going forward will be karters, but Turner is looking ahead to the new challenge of moving up the junior motorsport ladder over the next few years.
The team will be working on the car during the winter, with testing starting in the new year.
His first race in April will be at the iconic Brands Hatch, a race venue that Turner has dreamed of racing at for many years.
