Townsend takes the Town hotseat

PERSHORE Town are delighted to have appointed their former centre half Quentin Townsend as the new manager at the 2020 Solar PV King George V Stadium.

Townsend’s arrival at the helm follows the departure of Glen Brotherton by mutual consent and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Hereford United professional has been tasked with trying to bring about a turnaround in form for the Midland League Division One outfit.

Townsend, who managed Southam United until mid-September, will take charge of his first match on Saturday when second bottom Bolehall Swifts are the visitors.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to Pershore Town, a club where I enjoyed some great times in the past as a player.

“My aim now is to focus on getting points on the board and getting this club up the table where it reflects the quality in the squad more realistically than it currently does.”

A club spokesman added: “We are delighted to finally secure Quentin’s services as manager, having been unable to do so on two previous occasions when he was managing elsewhere.

“With the club having improved significantly off the pitch in the last couple of years, it is now hoped there can be a period of stability on the pitch and, with fresh impetus, an improvement in results.”

The last three weekends have been football-free for Town due to opposition being involved in the FA Vase, a waterlogged pitch and a blank weekend in the fixture list.

On December 5 Town visit Heath Hayes in a rearranged fixture before travelling to Southam United on December 12 and then hosting Pilkington XXX on December 19.

Sporadic fixture scheduling over Christmas then means they do not have a fixture until heading to Racing Club Warwick on January 2.
