Pershore Town 4 Bolehall Swifts 1

Midland Football League Division One

QUENTIN Townsend’s career as the new Pershore Town manager got off to a flying start at the 2020SolarPV stadium with a convincing victory over a recently rejuvenated Bolehall Swifts on Saturday.

Town’s starting 11 included three debutants and it was one of those, Danny Ludlow, who scored a hat-trick.

The best goal of the match, however, belonged to Town left back Jake Donnelly who scored with a 25-yard right-footed shot that went in off the bar.

An evenly contested first half saw Town’s back four defending well and the team played some good football.

The hosts took the lead after 39 minutes when Ludlow’s shot from the edge of the box was parried by the Swifts keeper back into his path to finish into the corner.

Town dominated the second half and were rewarded with three more goals.

The first arrived after 56 minutes when Ludlow slotted left-footed into the corner from a tight angle from ten yards, followed two minutes later by Donnelly’s strike.

Bolehall scored soon afterwards with a close range header but Pershore thereafter created numerous chances as substitute Matt Mitchell hit the bar with a header, Danny Carter spurned a couple of chances and Steven Roche and substitute Peter Jenvey also went before Ludlow completed his hat-trick with a couple of minutes remaining with a right-footed shot from close range.

Town do not have a match on Saturday so return to action with a trip to Heath Hayes on December 5.
