JAMIE Thomas and Matthew Print won the fourth round of the Broadway Golf Club Winter League.
Whilst it was a bright and sunny morning, there had been a sharp overnight frost and, with winter greens in operation, play was a little challenging.
Teams responded well in the foursomes match and there was some excellent golf to be witnessed.
Thomas and Print carded an impressive 35 points ahead of Mick Sandalls and Paul Walker who were second with 34.
Also with 34 but third and fourth respectively on countback were Keith Burton and Jake Norman and Ken Major and Robert Scrivens.
All 60 pairs now look forward to round five later in the month.
Following the Winter League match, Broadway’s new captains celebrated their inauguration with the annual Captains Drive-in.
Club captain Bernard Donoghue, ladies’ captain Maggie McDivitt, seniors’ captain John Musgrove and juniors’ captain Scott Davis were all determined to begin their 2018 year of captaincy with magnificent drives in front of the gathered crowd.
Davis was first on the tee and demonstrated all his youth and agility by sending his colossal drive off towards the 300-yard marker.
Musgrove was next in line and sent a glorious shot into the distance, followed by McDivitt who kicked off her year in style with a super drive.
Donoghue brought up the rear with a superb display of controlled driving, coolly dispatching the ball down the middle of the fairway.
All then retired to the warmth of the clubhouse to enjoy the fabulous food prepared by Broadway’s superb catering team at Fayreways UK.
