Tate is Broadway's club champion

ONE of Broadway Golf Club’s key events took place at the weekend as 62 men arrived to compete in their 36-hole Club Championships.

The course was in splendid shape and, with the weather providing much cooler playing conditions, all competitors went out optimistic in their quest for victory.

Finding magnificent form across both rounds was Richard Tate who carded a superb 147 gross to earn him the club champion title.

Ollie Storrer was second with an excellent 152 gross.




Nett leader on the day and winner of the prestigious Peter Ward Putter was Andy Coane with a fine 140 nett, leaving Paul Lankester to take a close second with 141.

Also at the weekend, Lin Andrew found tremendous from as she brought in 70 nett to give her top Medal position, with Rosemary Tomlinson taking second with 80 nett.


Soaring temperatures greeted the ladies at Broadway Golf Club when they competed in their Centenary Trophy.

Presented in 1995 to celebrate the club’s centenary, the Stableford trophy attracted 36 of Broadway’s ladies who had to battle courageously against the blistering heat to complete their round.

Julia Fortescue produced a sterling performance as she brought in the Division One winning score of 33 points, ahead of second placed Pam Hooper with 29 and third placed Annabelle Carter on countback.

In Division Two Jan Titley was victorious with an excellent 33 points, leaving Alison Hill second with 31 and Camilla Haines third with 30.
