PERSHORE Swimming Club claimed victory in the fourth and final round of the PGL League, which clinched qualification for the league final in June thanks to a third placed overall finish.
Round four pitted hosts Cheltenham, Warley Wasps, Wyre Forest and Pershore against each other in a contest which again saw speeding tickets issued to swimmers who achieved times above the upper limit – a badge of honour for the swimmer – but meaning no points are gained for the club, so requiring careful planning from the coaches.
PSC swimmers gaining speeding tickets were: Ollie Smith (13/14 fly), Lewis Cribbin (11u fly), Millie Thomas (nine, 25m breaststroke and 25m backstroke), Daniel Chalk (12u 50m backstroke), Isabel Fairchild (12u backstroke), Caitlin Yates (13/14 50m backstroke), Chloe Barnard (10u 25m freestyle and 25m breaststroke), Sophie Thomas (13/14 50m freestyle).
First places were achieved by Jess English (11u 25m breaststroke), Isabel Fairchild (12u 50m freestyle), Martha Cross (12u 50m breaststroke), Leo Rendall-Baker (50m freestyle), Andrew Thorner (11u backstroke), Matthew Franks (10u breaststroke), Catherine Rendall Baker (11u fly), Jack Porter (10u fly).
The relay teams were also in fine form, taking first place in the boys’ and girls’ 10u medley, 12u girls’ medley, 13/14 girls’ medley, nine-year mixed and freestyle medley, 13/14 girls’ freestyle and girls’ cannon (8x 25m).
