Summer League is done and dusted

THE REMAINING promotion and relegation issues were decided as the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League came to a conclusion.

Premier Division champions Stratford (47) played a reserve pair and drew 2-2 with Henley, who finished fifth with 26 points.

Runners-up Alcester A (32) were also held to a 2-2 draw by fourth placed Redditch HDA who finished level with third placed Ardencote Manor on 27 points.

Ardencote held on to third on sets difference despite surprisingly losing 4-0 to bottom of the table Moreton-in-Marsh (20).




However, it was a case of too little, too late for Moreton who are relegated to Division One. They are joined by Evesham (19) whose 4-0 defeat to Alcester B confirmed their drop and Alcester’s escape with 26 points.

In Division One Chipping Campden, despite losing their final match 3-1 to Stratford B, were crowned title winners and promoted with 40 points. This result also secured Stratford B’s safety from relegation with 23 points.


Pershore, with 36 points, took second spot and promotion following a good 3-1 win over third placed Littleton (33) who were unlucky to miss promotion by three points.

Studley (32) finished fourth thanks to a good 3-1 victory over Claverdon (20) which left the latter relegated, whilst Ardencote finished fifth with 29 points after a 3-1 win over already relegated Snitterfield, who finished bottom with seven points.

In Division Two Inkberrow A, already promoted and crowned winners, beat Shipston A 3-1 which meant the champions finished with 45 points and Shipston A fifth with 28.

Alcester C, runners-up with 35, are promoted and celebrated with a resounding 4-0 win over bottom and relegated Snitterfield B who have only 13 points.

FISSC of Stratford were also 4-0 victors away to mid-table Henley B (28). This meant FISSC ended the season in third place, three points short of promotion on 32 points.

Already relegated Studley B (14) did well to hold Claverdon B (24) to a 2-2 draw.

Division Three champions Chipping Campden B (41) thumped bottom and relegated Claverdon C (5) 4-0 and Inkberrow B (31) were confirmed as the fellow promoted side despite a 3-1 defeat to third placed Redditch HDA B (29).

Pershore B (27) moved up to fourth with a 3-1 victory over relegated Aston Cantlow (9). Warwick finished fifth with 27 points.

Division Four winners Bidford (47) celebrated with a 4-0 thrashing of sixth placed Wildmoor Spa A (26), whilst second spot and promotion went to Inkberrow C (36) who beat second bottom and relegated Moreton-in-Marsh B (18) 3-1.

The final third promotion place went to Redditch HDA C (35) thanks to a comfortable 4-0 victory over bottom placed Moreton C (5).

Bidford B finished fifth with the same 28 points as fourth placed Evesham B after a 4-0 win over the latter.

In Division Five Shipston B claimed the title and promotion with 38 points after closing with a 4-0 triumph over Inkberrow D.

Newcomers Tysoe secured promotion in second spot with 33 points after finishing with a 2-2 draw against bottom side Redditch HDA D (12).

The third and last promotion place was fought out between Warwickshire County Council and Chipping Campden C who met each other. The Council side were a point ahead before this match, but a terrific 3-1 win for Campden C meant they pipped the Council to promotion finishing with 32 points to the the County Council’s 31.

Henley C (29) were fifth after beating Wildmoor Spa B (23) 3-1.
