A FULL field turned out to support Irene Hawkes’ Lady Captain’s Day competition at Broadway Golf Club.

Following a shotgun start, teams of three went out in high spirits with one score to count on the first six holes, two scores on the second six and all three on the final holes.

Winning trio Camilla Haines, Louise Folkes and Lynda Newbery brought in a magnificent 85 points and second with 80 were Pat Righton, Linda Carruthers and Beccie Williams, ahead of Rachel Rigg, Bridget Lewis and Kim Lockyear who shared the score but finished third on countback.

A prize was also available for the team with the best score over the final six holes and this was taken by Rita Smith, Juliet Enderby and Isobella Lates with a tremendous 38 points.

Nearest the pins were also awarded on all par threes and were won by Molly King-Smith on the fifth, Angela Sollis on the eighth and Linda Carruthers the 13th.

Hawkes then treated all ladies to a fabulous fish and chip supper, prepared by Jon Hawthorne and his team at Fayreway’s UK, followed by an array of delicious cakes baked by the ladies’ committee.

BROADWAY’S men competed in their Division One and Two Medals on a day when gale force winds were the order of the day.

Whilst the course was playing superbly, the winds made play a challenge and Division One’s Callum Millard did exceptionally well to bring in a winning 70 nett, also achieving lowest gross on the day with a superb 77.

Paul Whelan secured second place with an impressive 74 and Richard Rouse matched the score as he finished third on countback.

In Division Two, Andrew Fisher clinched top spot with a first-rate 70 nett, ahead of Peter Cockle who achieved second with 73 and Graham Medley an admirable third on countback with the same score.
