EVESHAM All Starz Gymnastics Club’s Scarlett Preen performed superbly to win a silver medal at the West Midlands Advanced Novice Competition in Staffordshire.
This was the Vale club’s first appearance at the prestigious event, which attracts some of the best young gymnasts in the region from established clubs.
Scarlett, Ruby Gould, Poppy James and Lottie Andrews represented Evesham All Starz in four individual events – the beam, uneven bars, vault and floor.
The quartet produced great performances on all four pieces of equipment, with Scarlett winning a fantastic silver medal in the overall competition and Lottie finishing a highly creditable sixth in the overall category.
Evesham All Starz Gymnastics Club is celebrating its sixth birthday this year and has only been running competition groups for just over two years.
The club’s success has meant it has grown so much in the last 12 months it has had to move to bigger facilities to accommodate its growing number of gymnasts, going from training one day a week to six.
The club’s competition squad was also very successful in 2016, winning seven of the nine categories entered.
