Shillcock signs Sixways contract extension

Rob George 29th Jun, 2021

WARRIORS fly-half/full-back Jamie Shillcock has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Sixways until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Shillcock signed a new one-year contract in March but his consistent form in the final three months of the season has secured him an extension for a further two years.

“I am delighted to commit myself to the club to the end of the 2023/24 season,” Shillcock said.

“Although last season was disappointing from a results perspective, I was pleased with the way that I finished the season and got regular game time.

“We have made some exciting signings for next season and I am sure that they, coupled with the young homegrown talent we have here, will help us push for a top six place.”

Shillcock, 23, made his debut as a scrum-half in the 2015 Championship final first leg against Bristol Bears when he was 17 and still at Warwick School.

A product of the Three Pears Warriors Academy, Shillcock has now made 77 appearances – 53 as a starter – and scored 298 points, including 73 in the season that has just finished when he was the club’s leading points scorer.

“Jamie is a talented, young homegrown player, who in the closing stages of last season was in a rich vein of form,” said Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons.

“Our young homegrown players are central to our vision for the club and it is fantastic to see Shilly committing his future to the Warriors by extending his stay here at Sixways until the end of the 2023/2024 season.

“I have no doubt that he will kick on and play a big role in the future of the club. He is a great team man, whose roots are in the club.

“We all look forward to continuing working with him as we seek to progress things here at Sixways.”
