FINE weather and a beautifully presented course greeted the players for last Wednesday’s Seniors’ Open at Evesham Golf Club, which left seniors’ captain Neil Croft delighted.
Croft said: “It was a splendid day of golf, competition and hospitality and grateful thanks are due to organiser Ian Wood and his team of helpers for providing such a good day for all.”
The event had 58 entrants representing 16 clubs and the winner was Trevor Williams of Coventry Hearsall with 41 points.
The next four players all finished on 39 points and had to be separated on countback.
Runner-up was John Cox of Rye Hill and third was Rod Spears of Kings Norton, ahead of Evesham duo Gerry Ricketts and Martin Williams in fourth and fifth places respectively.
In addition to the golf, the raffle held on the day – in aid of the senior captain’s charity this year MS Society UK – raised over £200.
