Sandra shows Bags of talent to impress Albion

TALENTED Vale footballer Sandra Sydor is continuing to impress at West Bromwich Albion, where she is hoping to secure a contract for next season’s under 14 girls’ team despite being aged just 11.

St Egwin’s CE Middle School pupil Sandra has enjoyed a busy 2016/17 campaign with the Baggies’ under 12 girls’ team and now, with the current campaign coming to a close in April, has been invited to play in four trial matches with the under 14s.

Sandra, who will not turn 12 until June, is a right winger whose talent was never in doubt says Dean Martin, the current Evesham United boys’ under 13 manager.

“Sandra played for me when I was running the under 11 boys’ team. She was the only girl in the team and playing a year above herself, but she was fantastic,” said Dean.

“She was our best player and worked hard for the team. Sandra had two seasons with my team at under 11 and under 12 level and helped us to runners-up position in both seasons which earned us successive promotions.

“Sandra has also played for my colleague Mark Edwards who oversees the girls’ section at Evesham and she was the outstanding player despite being two or three years younger than her team-mates.”

Sandra’s father Artur said: “Sandra is really enjoying her time at West Brom and I am very proud of what she has achieved at such a young age.

“She has often played football against players several years older, including boys, and always competes with lots of determination.

“I’d like to say thanks to Mark Edwards and Dean Martin for all of the help and guidance they gave Sandra during her time with Evesham United and to G&C Engineering for their sponsorship support.”
