EVESHAM Rowing Club’s scullers achieved a number of podium finishes at the Gloucester Spring Head.

Evesham rowers Inky and Eva made waves after securing victory in the women’s junior under-15 double on the short course, clocking an impressive time of 8 minutes 13 seconds.

The pair left five other doubles in their wake, powering through the course to claim the race win.

Inky and Eva joined forces with Jess and India in the women’s junior under-16 quad for their first race in a boat together.

And the foursome crossed the line in third place in a time of 22 mins 22 secs.

The junior under-14 coxed quad of Lucy, Darcey, Harriet and Amelia, with Jess L at cox, produced a strong performance to finish in 7 mins 56 secs and secure a silver medal.

Jess also demonstrated her coxing skills, leading masters’ rower and junior rowing coach Carol Lovelock in the women’s masters’ 8+ race.

The women’s masters’ quad of Sandra, Penny, Maire and Jude had to row a gruelling 7km to the start line in their first-ever competitive row.

Former Evesham junior Alex Repton helped Hartpury’s open J18 quad take a commanding victory in their race.

Evesham junior rowing coach, Ashley Ford said: “It was a fantastic day of racing for everyone involved, filled with hard-earned victories, close finishes, and the kind of teamwork that makes rowing such a thrilling sport.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our athletes and their outstanding performances. The juniors are now focused on the British Indoor Rowing Championships, which are taking place virtually over the next week.”
