IN-FORM Evesham United geared up for Saturday’s vital clash at home to promotion rivals Thatcham Town with a comfortable 3-0 success at Bristol Manor Farm last weekend.
The Robins’ third away win of the campaign was rarely in doubt once Paul Sullivan had fired into the bottom corner in the eighth minute.
Midfielder Jack Cresswell neatly curled home a near-post free kick to double the advantage midway through the second half and a thumping late strike from Lee Chilton put the icing on the cake for the visitors.
United were in cruise control for long periods of the match and winger Matt Dodd hit the post in one of many other chances created by Carl Abbott’s team.
A clean sheet for debutant keeper Richard Walton – on loan from Tamworth to cover an injury to Lochie Robertson – was a further boost for Evesham who remain fourth.
The visit of Thatcham is a key one in the battle for promotion as the Berkshire side sit two places and five points behind United, with a game in hand.
United’s home Worcestershire Senior Cup quarter-final against Redditch United has been rearranged for a second time and will now take place on Monday, December 9.
