STRAWBERRY Field United are celebrating after reaching their first cup final in only their second full season in the Evesham Sunday League.
The Division Three underdogs defeated Alderton 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Bluck Cup semi-finals in which Matt Greaves scored twice for Alderton and Connor Sherry and Jake Maisey registered for United.
United manager Jack England said: “I’m overwhelmed how far this group of lads have come in such a short space of time. Their willingness and fight has got them to this final.
“Let’s not also forget there is a league and two other cups in the offering! We have a great opportunity this season to get our name out there so early in the club’s existence.”
Strawberry Field now travel to Cropthorne in the county cup third round this weekend as they bid to book a place in the quarter-finals.
