FOOTBALL League ace and former Evesham United junior Matt Smith was the star guest at the Robins’ U16s and U18s presentation evening.

The Queens Park Rangers striker, who also boasts Leeds United and Fulham on his CV, played for United juniors in 2005/06.

Smith, 27, also had spells with Littleton, Redditch United and Solihull Moors before a Football League career which includes stints with Oldham Athletic and Bristol City.

Smith handed awards to: U16s Players’ Player of the Season – Matt Brookes; U16s Manager’s Player of the Season – Sam Clark; U18s JPL Players’ Player of the Season – Brad Stalley; U18s JPL Manager’s Player of the Season – Will Middleton; U18s Floodlit Players’ Player of the Season – Dan Tustin; U18s Floodlit Manager’s Player of the Season – Ewen Dunbar.

MEANWHILE, prolific Evesham United striker Lance Smith has moved to Hereford.

The 25-year-old netted 26 league goals in 30 games for the Robins in Southern League Division One South & West last season, during which he rejected moves to Northern Premier side Hednesford Town and Southern Premier outfit Redditch United.

However, Smith has now switched to the Edgar Street club, who have been promoted to the Southern Premier.

The 2017/18 Southern League constitution has been confirmed. New opposition for Evesham are relegated Cinderford Town and Cirencester Town, promoted Bristol Manor Farm and Kidlington who have switched from the Central Division.
