BROADWAY Golf Club junior Ambrose Eaves is all smiles after qualifying to play at the 2019 IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines and other San Diego golf courses.

Eaves is one of four nine-year-olds who have qualified to compete and he travels to the USA in July.

Elsewhere at Broadway, the 3-ball Alliance Stableford featured 30 ladies and, with two best scores to count over 16 holes, some impressive results came in.

Winners were Esther Pettitt, Cheryl Senior and Juliet Enderby with 71 points, second were Annabelle Carter, Chris Saunders and Lyn Chambers with 66 and third were Jane Nicholson, Sonia Ward and Frances Friend with 65. Bev Howard, Lin Everitt and Elaine Hickin were fourth with 62.

Fifty men’s pairs competed in the final round of the Winter League at the weekend.

The klaxon sounded the start of the shotgun betterball contest and winners were Lee Jones and Stephen Oliver with a tremendous 47 points.

Second with 46 were Mark Rennie and Tom Cox, ahead of Neil Swindlehurst and Noel Hughes who matched the impressive score but finished third on countback. Keith Taylor and Dave Morris were fourth with 45.

Final scores will now be calculated and the 2018/19 league winners will be announced at the official presentation in April which will take place following the Broadway Bogey – the first competition of the summer season.
