Pre-season boost for Town

PERSHORE Town FC have received a boost ahead of the new season by securing a stadium rights deal with a new sponsor.

Town’s home will now be known as the 2020SolarPV King George V Stadium.

In Saturday’s friendly Pershore were edged out 2-1 by visitors Continental Star despite the hosts controlling large parts of the match.

After the hosts had hit the woodwork and missed a couple of very good chances, it was the visitors who took the lead ten minutes into the second half when Pershore’s Matt Mitchell headed past his own keeper whilst trying to clear.

Joe Walsh levelled the score with a direct free kick from 25 yards in the 90th minute but moments later, with what turned out to be the last kick of the game, the visitors scored on the break to snatch victory.

Malvern Town were the visitors on Tuesday evening and a competitive local derby was played in a good spirit, but there were no goals.

Both teams played some good football but lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Pershore just edged the first half before Malvern had the better of the second period.

Pershore Town’s last friendly is at home to Droitwich on Saturday (3pm).
