BROADWAY Golf Club’s ladies competed in their England Golf Medal at the weekend when, with the course playing superbly and the weather set fine, players were looking forward to their game.
The greens were magnificent but extremely fast running and points were difficult to come by, however Jayne Potter rose to the challenge and as her putts began to drop she strode into winning Division One position with an excellent 77 nett.
Lin Andrew also played brilliantly to earn second place on countback and also achieved lowest gross on the day with an admirable 89.
Representing Division Two, Judith Noyce did well to bring in lead position with a commendable 79 nett.
SEVENTY-SIX men were out the following day to do battle in the Division One and Two England Golf Medals.
The sun shone but there was still a distinct chill in the air, compliment of the cool northerly breeze.
Enjoying the fabulous conditions, competitors soon began to bring in some impressive scoring. Division One’s Matt Sollis found incredible form to bring in an outstanding 68 nett to take top position, also achieving lowest gross on the day with an exceptional 73.
Les Carter and Rob Webb battled it out for second and third positions, as both earned a splendid 69 nett and Carter clinched a worthy second place on countback.
In Division Two, Richard Broadbridge earned first placing with a first rate 69 nett, leaving Curtis Major to take second with 70 and Neil Smith third with 72.
