EVESHAM remain seven points above the Midlands Two West (South) bottom two despite suffering an unlucky 17-0 defeat at Barkers Butts on Saturday.
The Avonsiders, who have dropped a place to ninth, had halted their losing run last time out, but a second successive win proved elusive against their promotion-chasing hosts despite a thoroughly committed display from the visitors.
Whilst the scoreline suggests a relatively easy ride for the home side, it was anything but as Evesham played with great determination and were unfortunate to trail 5-0 at half-time.
The visitors dominated the set-piece and conceded the first try very much against the run of play.
Mike Diston missed a couple of penalty kicks, made harder by a vicious crosswind, which would have been just reward for their first half efforts.
It was 30 minutes into the second half before the home side scored again after somehow keeping Evesham out with some excellent last-ditch defending.
A third home try, this time converted, then followed to complete the scoring.
Evesham travel to seventh-placed Silhillians on Saturday.
