PERSHORE Tennis Centre’s Futures players formed three of the four-strong Herefordshire & Worcestershire county girls’ team recently.
Caoimhe Guppy, Beth Pye and Macy Richards played numbers one, two and three respectively in the ten and under event in Corby.
Buckinghamshire were the first opponents and, after a slow start, Caoimhe fought back to win the second set and clinch a tie-break 11-9.
Beth won her first set on a tie-break and then eased past her opponent to win the second set 4-0.
Macy lost her match but team-mate Georgia won hers, giving the team a 3-1 victory.
The next round was against Northamptonshire and again Caoimhe won a tight three-set match before Beth made her opponent run for everything and secured a 4-0, 4-1 victory.
Macy won her match and Georgia lost which gave Herefordshire & Worcestershire another 3-1 win.
In the final round against Bedfordshire, Caoimhe, Beth and Macy were unstoppable and won their matches in record time to secure overall victory for Herefordshire & Worcestershire.
Both Caoimhe and Beth won all of their matches in what was a fantastic event for Pershore’s young tennis stars.
