Pershore suffer double bank holiday disappointment

PERSHORE Town had a player sent off for the second match in a row as they lost 4-1 at Littleton in the Midland League Division One on Monday.

Pershore went close to taking the lead at their third-placed hosts when Pete Jenvey hit the bar and George Coley’s header from the rebound was hooked off the line.

It was 0-0 at half-time but Littleton went ahead on 48 minutes through Joey Smith before Pershore had Craig Connor sent off for a professional foul in the box with the resultant penalty saved by keeper Andy Yarnold.

Late goals from Tim Beattie, Douglas Wallace and Jamie Clarke added to Littleton’s tally before Town replied.

Pershore produced their best performance of the season to stifle table-toppers Coventry United on Saturday before the hosts bagged 78th minute winner for a seventh win in a row.

Town’s fighting, spirited display frustrated the league leaders, even when reduced to 10 men following a harsh second yellow card for Joe Walsh. But the only goal came on 78 minutes through Gift Mussa.
