PERSHORE Ladies’ Touch rugby side won double bronze competing in the Midlands Ladies Touch League and the nine-team Southwest competition.
The ladies just missed out on second place in the 18-team Midlands championship to rivals Stratford by a single point.
Pershore finished on 100 points following the conclusion of the competition at Five Ways.
Pershore Touch chair, Fizz Bewley, said: “Over the last year we have had a lot of fun playing 17 other Midlands Ladies Touch League teams twice, and the four matches we played recently – three wins and a draw – cemented what has been a very successful season for us from a points perspective too.
“Congratulations to everyone who has played in the team this season and supported us – especially coach Jamie Wyllie, photographer David Field and our referees, Calum Andrews and Brian Watson.
“And a special mention to our two new players, whose first time it was playing for the team in the MLTL – Goda and Georgia – and Connie, who was our team player of the tournament.
“Anyone can play Touch because it is a limited-contact sport, and we are proud at Pershore to be one of the most, if not the most, inclusive Touch centres in the region.
“We offer opportunities to train and play for women, men, juniors and retired or limited fitness players too, at a social or competitive level, and are part of a pathway from grassroots to regional, national and international Touch competitions.”
The Midlands Ladies Touch League is the largest women’s league in Europe.
Pershore Rugby’s Touch section, for women and men aged 13 and above, trains on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm until 9pm and welcomes any new players, whatever level of experience.
