PERSHORE Rugby Club junior section have enjoyed a fantastic end to the season.
After the whole club celebrated their end of season club awards and presentations, the following day Pershore U9s, U10s (a Barbarian team with Upton U10s) and U11s went with six other local clubs to Upton to compete in a rugby festival, with the prize being the Banwell Cup.
Independent referees awarded points in each match for teams based on rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship (TREDS).
Despite having the smallest squad in attendance, the Pershore juniors came away with the cup and beaming smiles.
The following weekend, the U11s and supporters travelled to Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset for another weekend of rugby. The team had nine players, which meant no subs, so no time for rest or injuries.
The boys played six games on Saturday and then another six on Sunday over the hot Bank Holiday weekend when the festival was again scored by independent referees on the TREDS basis and tournament debutants Pershore won the respect pendant.
