LAST pair Andrew Hill and Darren Critcher edged Pershore to a dramatic victory against Coventry & North Warwickshire with four balls left of their Birmingham League Division Two contest.
After the visitors were dismissed for 188 in the 50th over at The Bottoms, Pershore had 60 overs to reach their target.
At 171-6, Pershore appeared to be heading for victory, after 55 from Chris Miles, but the loss of three quick wickets and with ten runs still required left Coventry sensing a win.
However, No 11 batsman Critcher survived eight balls for nought while Hill steered them home with 14 not out.
Earlier, Pershore, having won the toss and bowled first, snapped up the first three Coventry wickets for just five runs, Critcher taking two of them. Stephen Miles’ second wicket then left the visitors 26-4.
However, Tarandeep Singh Toor (69) and Matthew Clements (60) rebuilt the innings with a superb 121-run stand for the fifth wicket to take the score to 147-5.
Pershore fought back, with Charlie Cross and Critcher ending the innings on 188 all out. Cross finished with 4-38 off 13.2 overs and Critcher 4-40.
In reply, the hosts lost the first three wickets cheaply before Chris Miles, hitting a patient 55 off 123 balls, Charlie Norton (36) and Alex Clasen (30) pushed the game in their direction.
Yet, from 171-6, Toor took three quick wickets for eight runs to send the home side to 180-9. Greg Ricketts had taken 4-41 but he no longer had overs to bowl in the finale.
Pershore, who lie seventh in the table, 13 points behind fourth-placed Attock, host table-toppers Walmley on Saturday.
Pershore 2nds suffered a chastening ten-wicket defeat at Coventry & NW after being dismissed for just 60.
Only Arshad Mahmmod (24) and David Jessop (20no) managed double figures before Coventry needed just ten overs to get to their target.
