WORCESTERSHIRE batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore has revealed he intends to walk away from New Road at the end of the season to join Yorkshire.

The 22-year-old told club chiefs he wanted to leave the Pears when his contract expires at the end of the season.

In a statement, Worcestershire confirmed further discussions would take place with the talented batsman and his representatives over the next week after Yorkshire declared the player had agreed to join the Headingley side for the 2018 season and beyond.

Kohler-Cadmore is now expected to be dropped for Worcestershire’s Division Two County Championship game against Sussex at Hove which starts tomorrow and The Observer understands he is highly unlikely to play for the club again.

Kohler-Cadmore is a product of the Yorkshire junior system before moving to Malvern College in his teens.

After rising through the ranks, Kohler-Cadmore established a place in the Pears first team with a host of eye-catching displays including the fastest century of 2016 when his smashed 127 against Durham at New Road, breaking Graeme Hick’s 12-year-old record T20 score for the county.

He showcased his talents to the Tykes first-hand with a match-winning 118 against them in the Royal London One-Day Cup last month – an innings which saw him hit five sixes and ten fours.

Worcestershire face a possible home Royal London One-Day Cup semi-final against Yorkshire on June 17 if the Tykes win their quarter-final against Surrey at Headingley four days earlier.
