North Midlands RFU praise for Pershore junior section

PERSHORE Rugby Club’s juniors have enjoyed an exciting end to the season, with plenty going on both on and off the pitch.

The under seven and eight tag teams took to the Sixways pitch to entertain fans by playing matches before Worcester Warriors’ 39-17 Premiership victory over Sale.

The following day these younger age groups were back in action with games at Upton, whilst under nine, ten and 12 teams took part in the ‘PUNC’ youth rugby festival featuring teams from Pershore, Upton and touring side Northampton Casuals at Pershore’s Piddle park.

A high standard of competitive rugby was on display across the age groups, with spectators spoilt as to which games to watch.

Keith Skirving from the North Midlands RFU Club Support and Development committee was on hand to oversee proceedings and hand out festival player awards at the end of the event.

He said: “The kids were tremendous and the buzz about the ground was lovely. Congratulations to Pershore and all the volunteers involved for creating a great experience for the kids and parents, to the benefit of all three clubs and youth rugby generally.”

Pershore juniors are now looking forward to their next end of season event on Sunday at Piddle Park when, after a short training session, they will have their player awards and end of season party.

Focus will then be given to some fun summer training to help prepare the youngsters for the following season and forthcoming tour to Cornwall.
